Stories that live
in the space
between.
Slowburn Films is an independent production company making genre-led film and television rooted in cultural storytelling, diasporic experience, and the questions we rarely stop to ask.
Selected Projects
-
A powerful and emotionally charged short film tracing the profound effects of domestic abuse on families. Through heartfelt performances and a sensitive portrayal of its characters' journeys, the film explores trauma, resilience, and the transformative power of compassion.
-
A tense drama set in a single hotel room. Two former lovers reunite in secret - and are forced to confront whether to move forward or hold on to a connection that can no longer sustain them. Intimate, unresolved, honest.
-
In the English countryside, a disgraced priest visits a church-going widow. Through shared loneliness and past sins, the two find an uneasy solace - until a distressing discovery tests everything they thought they understood about judgement.

How We Work
Genre-led. Intentional. Politically conscious. Working at close range.
-
Genre-led
Accessibility is a craft, not a compromise. We work in forms people recognise because we want them to stay with the story.
not arthouse for its own sake -
Intentional
Nothing is accidental. Every frame, every silence, every cut is a decision in service of the work.
not incidental or unearned -
Socially conscious
We know where we stand. The politics is in the texture - in character, in detail - not in the message.
not didactic or preachy -
Intimate
We work at close range. The body and the unspoken moment are not limitations; they are the subject.
not navel-gazing
